Madison Morris

BALLET, POINTE, REPERTOIRE

Performance Experience:

Madison is a professional ballerina, dance educator, and registered dietitian currently based in southern CA. She has performed with the Inland Pacific Ballet (Principal), Houston Ballet (Corps de Ballet), Anaheim Ballet, and at galas and festivals across the country. She has danced various styles ranging from classical and character/folk to modern and contemporary and has performed notable roles including protagonists (Cinderella), antagonists (Seawitch in "The Little Mermaid"), and everything in between (Snow Queen, Dew Drop, acting/character roles, etc). She has appeared in world premiers such as Stanton Welch's "Marie" and "La Bayadere" and in works by several acclaimed choreographers such as Sir Frederick Ashton, Sir Kenneth MacMillan, John Cranko, George Balanchine, Sir Ben Stevenson, Mark Morris, and Christopher Wheeldon.

 

Madison's pre-professional experience and training included Houston Ballet II, Houston Ballet Academy, School of American Ballet, and Ad Deum Dance. During her time performing and touring with Houston Ballet II, she was honored with two awards from Houston Ballet and was recognized nationally when invited to attend YoungArts Week 2010 as a Finalist through the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts (NFAA). Upon attending and performing, she was awarded a grant by the national foundation. While her primary home is the stage, Madison is also a SAG-eligible performing artist with experience in commercial dance and modeling. She has appeared in a number of publications including a book (i.e. "The Telling Image") and magazines ranging from local to national (i.e. Dance Magazine, Pointe, Dance Advantage, Arts & Culture Texas, etc).

 

 

Teaching and Coaching:

Madison's first introduction to teaching was as a Teacher's Assistant at Houston Ballet Academy. Since then, she has gained extensive experience and acclaim as an instructor and coach teaching at a number of dance schools throughout southern CA, the US, and Japan. She is currently ranked the #1 Dance Coach on CoachUp and has also served as a movement specialist/coach for a wide array of athletes including gymnasts, basketball players, and figure skaters.
